The Department of Law promotes and carries out research activities in the CUN 12 Area – Law. The Lecturers and Researchers who are part of it are law experts belonging to all 21 Scientific-disciplinary Sectors (SSD) in the Law Area (IUS).

The wide variety in teaching and research, given the wealth of sectors represented, is a major feature that has ensured the Department an excellent ranking in the national assessment of research quality both in the VQR 2004-2010 edition and in the VQR 2011-2014 edition.
